Antonio Cruz

Antonio J. Cruz is a retired Lieutenant from the NYPD Detective Bureau and has also served in several leadership roles including Deputy Commissioner and Deputy Director at the NYC Department of Correction . He also served as a Deputy Undersheriff at the Nassau County NY Sheriff’s Department. He has extensive investigative experience in both the policing and correctional areas of law enforcement.. He joined the ³Ô¹Ï±¬ÁÏ University Faculty in 2023 as an adjunct professor teaching criminal investigations and policing . He has also taught policing and correctional administration on both an undergraduate and graduate level at St John’s University . Throughout his extensive law enforcement career, he has lectured at various conferences throughout the United States on gangs, correctional intelligence and correctional internal affairs.

Professor Cruz’s primary teaching interests are in the areas of criminal justice with emphasis on Criminal Investigations, Policing and Correctional Administration. He is passionate about interacting with ³Ô¹Ï±¬ÁÏ’s diverse student body by sharing his varied career experiences and having realistic discussions about past and current events within the realm of criminal justice. He is also very passionate about shaping the potential career trajectories of those that wish to become future criminal justice practitioners.He looks forward to continuing his commitment of teaching, guiding and mentoring our students and future professionals at ³Ô¹Ï±¬ÁÏ University
